The Best Of Bridal Fashion At Lakme Fashion Week W/F 2016

Can you believe it’s September already? I was looking forward to August all year and can’t believe how fast it whizzed past. Between weddings, fashion events and visiting friends across the country, I barely had time to register what was going on, which meant I unfortunately couldn’t give you a blow by blow account of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016.

And I really feel terrible about it because this time, LFW had SO much going on right from entire segments dedicated to North East fashion, to high level focus on the handlooms , and even, a plus-sized fashion show curated by Little Shilpa. My approach to fashion is very inclusive, and it made me really really really happy to see that Lakme Fashion Week was going down this route too.

With close to twenty designers showcasing every day, curating this post was a little overwhelming, but I couldn’t help sharing with you what I absolutely LOVED this season. This list is missing some big names, but you know me, and you know I can’t stand behind something I just don’t relate to. So while Tarun Tahiliani‘s outfits didn’t appeal to my bridal sensibilities, Anushree Reddy‘s collection was the a familiar song set to the same ol’ tune. Another one that’s missing from my top trousseau picks is Tulsi Silks, who put together an absolutely phenomenal show. As you may recall, they are a highly loved Chennai favourite, and all of us down south were cheering loudly from the sidelines. I just wish I had great pictures that allowed me to share with you the beauty that this show was.

With that out of the way, let me present, the best in bridal fashion from Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016.

17LOVE : The 3D embellishments that quite literally, added a new dimension to resort wear.
WANT :
Black cut-out dress, third from the left

11LOVE : The interesting use of yokes (IT’S NOT YOLKS GUYS. That’s a massive faux pas. Just Saying.), and that floral work against the gold.
WANT :
The black saree, second from right.

12LOVE : The easygoing indo-western vibe, which also happens to be the dress code at your BFF’s Reception.
WANT : The drop – waist anarkali, second from right

13LOVE : The variety of silhouettes, colours and styles that are all super on-trend
WANT : That jumpsuit. Please someone, get me that jumpsuit. ( It’s second from right, btw)

14LOVE : The stunnnning blouse styles and textures! Really inspired atm.
WANT : Every off-shoulder style blouse that Manish can make for me

15LOVE : The interesting colour palette and those fun fun prints
WANT : Both those floor length kurtas!

16LOVE : The really refreshing take on tassels and boho-chic, which is also totally winter appropriate. Honeymoon in the hills, anyone?
WANT : The Denim palazzos! And that angrakha-style outfit in the middle.

5LOVE : Everything. She’s my favourite designer of 2016. You know that, right?
WANT : Obviously, everything. But mainly, that saree. I want 7 of those saree actually, so that I can wear them all day, errday.

6LOVE : The velvet dupattas and the jewel-toned palette. Just screams winter mehendis!
WANT : Any of those dupattas, really.

7LOVE : The western silhouettes in dull metallics and  which are so so useful for all those pre-wedding jitters and post-wedding dinners.
WANT : Those high waisted, wide legged pants!

8LOVE : The grayscale resortwear. Just so classic!
WANT : That dress on the extreme left.

9LOVE : Did you say Sabyasachi Minidress? The world needed this, and we didn’t even know it.
WANT : Second from left, that dress is too apt for that youngsters’ party. And thank you, Tanya Ghavri, for showing us juttis and dresses are totes ok now.

10LOVE : Spanish matador references at Indian weddings? Works for me!
WANT : Second from right, that crop top lehenga is so fierce!

1LOVE : All those different ways you can drape a saree and still looking sophisticated
WANT : A bandhni saree. Please get me a bandhni saree!

2LOVE : Brocade lehengas for the sangeets of your dreams
WANT : That lehenga in bottle green with that jacket to keep me warm, because freezing in winters really isn’t my jam.

3LOVE : The super festive interpretation of the boho bride. And please, just look at that jewellery. I for one, can’t stop looking.
WANT : The lehenga on the far left, but only if it comes with that lion waistband.

So now that you know what I really loved, can you please tell me what you really want? Or is there something you’d like to add to this list?

I’m listening!

Love you too ♥
