I know you haven’t been living under a rock, and I know that you know the Vogue Wedding Show is happening this weekend. And you’ve obviously already got your exclusive invitation in hand. And I also know you know that Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra Anita Dongre, Gaurang, Gaurav Gupta, Bespoke Vintage Jewels, Amrapali, Raj Mahtani Couture Jewels (phew!) and many more designers are going to be there.
But are you actually, really, ready? Ready to finally buy your reception outfit? Ready to finally commit to that gorgeous choker? Ready to at last, see the whole look come together? Panic not, because these super simple tips are going to make your life much easier. So let’s go!
Make A List
This one really seems like such a no-brainer but it’s so easy to forget, and at the same time, so integral to making sure that you get the most out of the three day extravaganza. There is such a thing as aimless shopping and this would not be the time for it. So make a list of what your trousseau is missing, what budgets you have in mind, and who your top designers are. This helps you prioritise your time, and make sure you actually go home with that dream lehenga rather than leaving you overwhelmed and with no shopping bags to boast of.
Schedule Appointments In Advance
One of the benefits of Vogue Wedding Show is being able to see multiple vendors under the same roof, but realistically, it’s not possible to see every outfit at every stall, and then make a decision. Also remember that while the designers are going to be there in person, they’re human too (hard to believe right?!) – and will therefore be hard pressed for time. For some special one on one attention make sure you schedule an appointment well in advance. And while it might be too close to call, better late than never right?
Oh, and if you don’t get that appointment, then stop fretting – there will be a large army of helpful assistants at each stall to help you make all the right decisions.
Dress Well, Dress Right
Say it with me, and then repeat after me 12 times : “Today is not my wedding. Today is not my wedding!” While you will be so tempted to shine like the bride-to-be that you are, keep in mind that when you go shopping you need to be prepared for what you’re buying. So here’s a quick guide to how you need to pull together a simple, fuss free look which won’t distract you while you try on that outfit from Sabyasachi’s Firdaus collection.
1⋅ A simple top in earthy, neutral colours (think black, brown beige) which would allow you to try on/drape outfits across a range of colours. Pick a white/ivory if you’ve got a pastel palette in mind
2⋅ A wide neck top, with simple or no earrings if you’re looking to buy jewellery
3⋅The most comfortable pair of footwear, and if possible, a back up pair in your handbag which is of a similar height to what you have in mind for the big day
4⋅ Nude make up, which isn’t just in but also really important because it shouldn’t take away the attention from your outfit choices. However, you can go for a subtle gold eye or a smokey brown if you know that’s exactly the look you want on your final day.
Attend The Masterclasses
There’s a reason brides love the Vogue Wedding Show, and this is one of them. With the biggest names in weddings and fashion coming together to share insider tips and expertise, in an effort to help you put your best foot forward, can you give me one good reason to miss the masterclasses? Anaita Shroff Adjania, Namrata Soni and Vandana Mohan? Sign me up!
Take Your Wedding Entourage Along (And, Include The Groom Too!)
This might just be the day you say YES to the dress, and you need everyone in the Trousseau Shopping Team to say yes too! So if your best friend has a dentist’s appointment, make sure she cancels it because there is no way you’re taking that call without her honest opinion. And also that guy who’s easy to forget about in this whole thing? Yeah, the groom. That guy. Bring him along too if you guys are looking for coordinated outfits. He spends just one day shopping and you get to make sure he looks his absolute best. Now that’s what I call a win-win situation.
I know this was super helpful, but you don’t need to say thank you…over mail or even in the comments section. Instead, come say hi to me in person this weekend! And make sure you stay in touch over Snapchat (Add me : gprerna) because I’m not letting you miss out on a single second of this awesomess.
Love you too! ♥
